?Pumpkins of different shapes in preparation for all-souls-day?
Ilocano tradition calls for honoring our ancestors with rice cakes, candles and prayers.
But if you go down south to Manila, the big groceries carry variety of pumpkins (most likely imported if not locally grown using imported seeds). Some houses decorate their homes seriously for the halloween.
Back home in Ilocos, we stick to the old ways. We will take photos downtown tomorrow and show you rice cake varieties we offer to our ancestors ;-) In Ilocos to this day, the "karabasa" (ilocano word for pumpkin) is still for "dinengdeng" and "adobo" ;-) and not used for halloween ;-)
